All the hype soon fizzled out after legendary Bronx heavyweight rapper, DJ and producer Diamond D took to the stage at Gas town’s Lamplighter bar. D.D. has worked with Buster Rhymes, The Fugees, Grand Puba, and Sadat X to name a few in a great career that spans decades. However, fans and ticket holders complained that D.D.’s 7pm performance was too early but the XXXL rapper explained that his West Jet flight to New York had forced him to cram the set into daylight hours. A sizeable portion of his zealots weren’t impressed. Those present were appalled by the DJ’s limp selection of jams and lack of enthusiasm in the crowd. Some noted that he looked like a man simply there for the cash and carry. As a result of time constraints BTC Magazine’s interview with the “legend” was also compromised. During our interview with D.D. fans and groupies emerged from the shadows. It was hard to distinguish between male and female fans that made a bee-line straight for the interview table asking for autographs. This deluge of bystanders unravelled D.D.’s patience and as a result he picked up his gear and stormed out. The promoter of the event was hesitant to comment but he felt that D.D. should have at least rapped a verse or two. “We are entitled to that much,” said the gig promoter. The Diamond D interview will be featured soon and will appear in the October issue of BTC.
Word to the fans: when an MC/star is being interviewed remember to step the fuck off and stay back. Some interviewers don’t have the restraint that we at BTC pride ourselves on and they will attack your whack ass. Remain mature and wait till the interview is complete ted and then ask for autographs. Oh yeah, if you’re a 20 year old dude asking for autographs got a grip sunshine. I now understand why there are so many spam emails for penis enlargers.
